LORIEN HAYNES

In 2021, Lorien’s play GOOD GRIEF was produced as a virtual production starring  Sian Clifford and Nikesh Patel and directed by Natalie Abrahami. The Guardian called it ‘an impressively naturalistic bereavement story’ and a ‘tender film-play hybrid.’

Her feature, EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED TO TELL MY DAUGHTER ABOUT MEN  premiered at the Austin Film Festival and was nominated for Best Narrative Feature, as well as just having Won Best Film Cannes Independent Film Festival and she just won Best Actress at the London Independent Film Awards. Film Cred review said: ‘The heartbreak, humour and humanity of this film was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Lorien Haynes just lit up the screen. If you have a chance to see this film, do it do it do it.’

And in December, her written and produced tribute to sexual violence survivors, PUNCHED, played at The Criterion Theatre, starring Saffron Burrows, Sharon Duncan-Brewster and Lesley Sharp, directed by Jude Kelly. The piece was described by The Guardian as ‘a no-frills drama about domestic abuse.’

Lorien has also spent this year writing SHAKESPEARE’S WOMEN. A feature weaving the lives of seven of Shakespeare’s Women into contemporary East London.

EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED TO TELL MY DAUGHTER ABOUT MEN was bought by Danish Broadcaster DR2 for transmission as part of their Women in Film Festival. And GOOD GRIEF has been bought by ABC Australia for transmission in 2022.
